Does that big heap of "created-by" subpages actually represent distinct file formats? Do the different WAVs require different software to play them, or otherwise differ in characteristics in significant ways? How do you tell which type of WAV you have when a file has the WAV extension? Dan Tobias (talk) 08:16, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

WAV is container not data

WAV files can contain MP3 (or other) compressed audio data. The http://fileformats.archiveteam.org/wiki/Audio_and_Music page has it listed under uncompressed.
