Number sign in extension

Presumably you've seen all my self-undoing in Template:Number sign on the recent changes list. I was trying to get Template:ext to work with this page, which recently had .#xx (the 'x's representing digits) added as an extension. After more fighting with the markup than I'd care to admit, it occurred to me that the number sign can't be in page names, including category names, so it never would have worked no matter what went on with the template. For now, I'm not using the extension template, and instead just simulating the markup it adds in the infobox; and not I'm adding a category at all. This takes the format out of (the nonexistent) "Category:File formats with extension .", but leaves it without a category for this particular extension. The harm this causes to ability to find formats is alleviated by that this extension also belongs to Category:File formats with too many extensions, so I don't think this is too worrying, but I thought it would be a good idea to document it, anyhow.
