From Just Solve the File Format Problem
Jump to: navigation, search

To improve compression of a Dr. Halo file, you can use the following algorithm: If the next pixel matches the current pixel, make a homogeneous run. Otherwise, make a heterogeneous run. End the heterogeneous run just before three or more same pixels, or just before two same pixels if only one of them will fit in the run (in which case that one is omitted). Usually this doesn't help (it is the same file size as other software), but sometimes it can make the file smaller by a few bytes. --Zzo38 (talk) 03:31, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
