Format details
GXA files use both big-endian and little-endian byte order.
Identification
GXA files start with ASCII "BMHD", and end with "END ".
They usually (always?) have bytes (hex) 00 00 00 22 at offset 4, and ASCII "BPAL" at offset 42.
Note: It's rare but possible for a Windows BMP file to accidentally start with "BMHD", so it could be mistaken for GXA. It doesn't help that both formats can use the .bmp extension.
