Image Packaging System (IPS) archive (.p5p) is a format created to transport one or more IPS packages between systems without requiring use of an online package repository. It is part of the IPS software originally created for OpenSolaris and now used in Oracle Solaris 11, OpenIndiana, OmniOS and other descendants of OpenSolaris.
