The Dublin Core (which has nothing to do with Ireland; the Dublin referred to is Dublin, Ohio, USA, where the first meeting was held to devise the standard) is a standardized set of metadata fields to give information about resources. Its uses include as meta tags in HTML to identify web documents, but there is also an XML-based standalone format for it which can be used for storing bibliographic information.
