HighMAT

HighMAT™ stands for High-Performance Media Access Technology a joint venture by Microsoft and Panasonic.^[1] It was a new disc format designed to offer a dramatically improved digital media experience on consumer electronics devices.^[2]

File Structure

Using the HighMAT extension^[3] to Windows XP built-in burning wizard, one can choose to make a HighMAT compatible CD/DVD. This process will convert any media on the disc and create an additional folder called "HIGHMAT" which contains:

• AUTHOR.XML
• CONTENTS.HMT
• MENU.HMT
• TEXT.HMT
• IMAGES folder containing thumbnails with HMT extensions
• PLAYLIST folder containing files with HMT extensions
