SiliconPage by μXac (Mike Rozak) is an early ebook format from approximately 2000.

The compiler takes RTF and JPG files and generates SiliconPage Book (.spb) files. It can save the settings as a SiliconPage Project (.spp) file.

[edit] Features of SiliconBook format

  • Compress text data about 2:1.
  • Users cannot copy text from the book, and the file is "encrypted" due to the custom compression used.
  • Password protect some or all of the book's chapters so users must register to finish the book.
  • Allow the user a set amount of time (such as 30 minutes) to browse the book, after which he must provide a password.
  • Expire after N days unless a password is entered.
  • Disable printing of the book unless the user has registered with you for the password.
  • Have the book expire on a specific date.
