Steganos Privacy Suite (previously Steganos Security Suite and Steganos) by Deus Ex Machina Communications (DEMCOM) / Steganos GmbH (Fabian Hansmann, Sascha Wildgrube, and Gabriel Yoran GbR) offers various steganography and encryption features.
[edit] Steganos (1996)
Freeware DOS program that supports BMP, VOC, WAV, and TXT
It stores the filesize and a one-byte checksum in addition to the file contents
It can be adapted to 'any' media type because it simply modifies the lowest bit of every chunk, beginning after the file header. You can specify the length of the header (number of bytes to skip) and the number of bits in each chunk (8-bit, 16-bit, etc) it will blindly carry on from there
When hiding in ASCII, spaces and tabs are added to the end of the lines. It hides one byte per text line (8 bits represented by combination of eight spaces or tabs).

[edit] Steganos for Windows 95 (1997)
Supports BMP, DIB, VOC, WAV, HTML, and all types of ASCII files for steganography
Creation of standalone encrypted SEF (Steganos Encrypted File) using HWY1 algorithm (compatible with RC4)
zlib compression and optional encryption for steganography functions
Steganos SDK supports the creation of custom applications that handle Steganos files

[edit] Steganos II Security Suite (1999)
- RC4 encryption, SHA-1 hashes, DyCeS (Dynamic Cell Spreading) algorithm in steganography to perfectly spread data throughout the carrier file
- Supports hiding multiple files and folders
- TrustLink: Every Steganos encrypted file and carrier file can contain TrustLinks to other files. More than just a shortcut, a TrustLink also contains the password of the linked file
- Password Manager: Every Steganos encrypted file and carrier file can contain a password list. Invisible Key Agreement (InKA) using 2048 bit Diffie-Hellman algorithm (DH)
- Steganos II Safe: A virtual drive which automatically encrypts its contents
- kind of hacky implementation, working copies go into temp folder, then when close Safe, encrypts them into a new SteganosSafe.sef in the documents folder (this location can be changed) and 'shreds' the originals
