Code Page 857 (CP857, DOS 857, DOS CP857, DOS Turkish) is an 8-bit character encoding. It is a member of the family of MS-DOS encodings intended for use with the Turkish language. The lower half is the same as CP437 (and ASCII), and the upper half has accented (and other diacritically-marked) letters and a few other things such as box drawing characters (not as many of them as some of the other encodings since more code positions are devoted to variant letters). This encoding has the characters of ISO 8859-9, though in different code positions from that encoding. In a variant version, code point D5 (previously unassigned) was assigned to the euro sign.
