Uniform Type Identifier

Uniform Type Identifier (UTI) is an identification system associated with Apple computers, or an identifier from that system. It's used for file types, and similar things.
A UTI is a string that looks like a reversed domain name. For example, the UTI for GIF is com.compuserve.gif.
