PFR (Portable Font Resource) is an outline font format developed by Bitstream. It was sometimes used for embedded fonts on web pages.
The terminology isn't easy to make sense of. Apparently, the technology surrounding PFR is called TrueDoc, at least when it isn't called Dynamic Fonts or Bitstream WebFont technology instead. The term TrueDoc might sometimes be used to mean just the PFR file format.
PFR/TrueDoc was supported by Netscape 4.03, and later 4.x versions.

Files begin with ASCII "PFR0

Some versions of the file command imply there is a newer version that begins with "PFR1
", but it's not clear that such a format ever existed outside of a laboratory.
