Ontology

HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding, H.265) is a video stream format that is intended as a successor to H.264. It is more efficient in space vs. quality than the earlier standard. It was created jointly by MPEG and VCEG, and endorsed as a standard by ISO (ISO/IEC 23008-2) and ITU. It may be patent encumbered in some countries, however. The BPG still graphic format uses it.
