Description
Sony Wave64 is an uncompressed audio file format designed to overcome some of the limitations of the RIFF/WAVE format defined by Microsoft. RIFF/WAVE, due to its 32-bit nature, can only store up to 4GB of audio data in a single file. Wave64, as a 64-bit format, can store a rather more expansive 8,388,608 terabytes in a single file (http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation/default.aspx?Doc=SONAR%20X2&Lang=EN&Req=Recording.08.html).
Other 64-bit formats include RF64, defined by the European Broadcasting Union, and Apple's Core Audio Format
