Ambiguous usage of firmware definition

BIOS, in modern contexts may also mean game assets.[1] However, traditionally speaking, BIOS are software that are used to interact with a physical hardware.

There are certain emulation software, like Flycast (Sega Dreamcast emulator), that does not require a BIOS for emulating Sega Dreamcast for HLE emulation, though it is listed as recommended.[2]

These are not isolated examples of ambiguity over terminologies used in modern society.
