BeagleWorks
From Just Solve the File Format Problem
Beagle Bros software[1] developed software called Beagle Works for the Macintosh in 1992 to compete with the integrated Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Database suite of software[2]. They were late to the market and ended up selling the title to WordPerfect who released it under the title WordPerfect Works in 1993.
File Identification
Beagle Works and WordPerfect Works used the same file format on the Macintosh, this format is unrelated to the common WordPerfect file format.
Each file begins with the ascii BWks
which is the Macintosh Creator code for the format. Then the next 4 bytes determine if the file is a Word Processing BWwp
, Spreadsheet BWss
, Database BWdb
, Drawing BWdr
or Painting BWpt
.
