PIC (Yanagisawa)
PIC is a raster graphics format that was used mainly in Japan. It was apparently developed by the same "Yanagisawa" person who developed Pi and PIC2.

Disambiguation
See PIC for more formats with that name.
Some file format lists include a format named Japan PIC or Japan Picture, with extension .jpc. Those are probably references to this format. As evidence, the DOS program DISPLAY (DISP189A.ZIP + DISP189B.ZIP), by Jih-Shin Ho, supports this format as "Japan PIC (.jpc)".
Identification
Files begin with ASCII "PIC

Editors' notes
This article is meant to be about the format implemented by the xvpic.c XV extension, whatever its correct name, file extension, and developer might be.
Wikipedia:Comparison of graphics file formats says it was developed by Yanagisawa, but lacks a citation.
