PPM (Flipnote)
The PPM (apparently standing for Para Para Manga Koubou[2]) format is the primary format of Nintendo DSI "Flipnotes", user-created video files. It is a "pure" (no separation between container and codec) format that stores video and audio. It can sometimes be found alongside the LST and PLS formats. In Flipnote 3D, the successor to the original Flipnote software, it was succeeded by the KWZ format.

Flipnote Hatena
Many PPM files were available in an online repository called "Flipnote Hatena". This has closed, but they were converted to KWZ and put online in "Flipnote Gallery World". This is itself likewise closed, but some of the files on it were saved and are currently available. See the KWZ page for details.
Software
- Hatenatools
- Flipnote.js (Javascript library; also supports KWZ)
- James Daniels's Flipnote-Player (GUI; instance at [1])
- PPM-Parser (Can apparently only extract individual video frames, not audio)
