it would be nice if we can link this wiki with COPTR
- Last time somebody proposed massive interlinking with COPTR, Jason (this site's owner) disliked it because it would "splatter" all sorts of links to pages that are not always very useful, all over the site. Some more modest interlinkage just to COPTR pages that actually have useful and relevant resources might be acceptable, though. Just what are you proposing? - I don’t want have a lot of automatic generated links but some manual added links. For example I want to link from SIARD (http://fileformats.archiveteam.org/wiki/SIARD) to all SIARD-Tools in COPTR (http://coptr.digipres.org/CSV2SIARD, http://coptr.digipres.org/SIARD_Suite, http://coptr.digipres.org/KOST-Val, …). In COPTR I have already the link to this wiki and if this wiki can give an overview about the tools from COPTR for the filefomat it would be great! Thanks. Chlara (talk) 14:08, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- My issue with COPTR last time was a wholesale, generated interlinking with COPTR, where each and every entry that was shared with COPTR, even incomplete or uninformative ones, were added into the wiki's info boxes and categories, implying some sort of official interaction. It felt like a parasitic action, mostly because it WAS a parasitic action. That said, if there were specific COPTR entries to link to, that were complete and that should be added, I am fine with linking to them along the bottom of an entry as we link to other outside information sources.
