JAGTAG is one of the 2-D bar code formats that were promoted to be used in ads and on product packaging to let customers find more information. Unlike most of the others, no special app was needed; you could just photograph it with your mobile phone camera and text or email it to the JAGTAG company, which would reply with the info or a URL.

The JAGTAG code consists of a bunch of dots and circles, mostly against a white background but with areas that are reversed. A later form of the code was redesigned to look more like a QR code.

This scheme does not seem to have caught on, though some major advertisers were using it for a while around 2009-11, and Sports Illustrated used it to tie its 2010 swimsuit issue with additional online content. The official site at jagtag.com appears no longer to be online.
