dosstart.bat was a Batch file used in Windows 95 and Windows 98 that had commands that were to be run by the operating system after AUTOEXEC.BAT in the event where user has chosen to start the operating system without starting Windows GUI, or if GUI was exited without restarting the computer. This file could still be present in Windows ME, but due to the fact that it was not possible to tell the OS to not run GUI or to exit GUI after it started, there was no way to get to run it.
