About Me
I'm interested in all sorts of things - I have a broad, but not deep knowledge of all sorts of odd stuff. Unlike a few people I've seen here, I have no formal qualifications or professional background in library sciences or archival - I'm just a bloke who happens to be interested in this stuff. Consequently, you'll notice that my posts tend to be somewhat low on technical info. I guess my main role here will be to create a basic skeletal structure for as many formats as possible - brief description, links to specs (where available), useful software, etc. - and leave that for people smarter and more knowledgeable than myself to add to.
I have very limited time to do this at the moment, as a recent move has left me without internet access at home, so I do what I can in breaks from work. I apologise in advance for information put in the wrong place, incorrectly formatted pages, etc. --Halftheisland (talk) 20:30, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

Talk to me here! I'll do my best to answer --Halftheisland (talk) 20:30, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
I realise the Mario Paint stuff seems kinda weird but I love stumbling across these weird little subcultures. --Halftheisland (talk) 20:30, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

Current To-Do
The directory structure of the Modland FTP has changed. /pub/trackers/ and /pub/players are now under /pub/software/.... time to change a whole bunch of articles - This should now be done for all existing pages with Modland links
Audio: Bringing over the list of file formats from UnExoticA DONE
Adding basic info to PSF and daughter formats. DONE
Disambiguation pages for RAW (RAW (Adlib), RAW (Sample) DONE
Investigate Jeskola Buzz clones - Psycle, Buzztard, Jacker, libzzub, Armstrong, Buzz RMX, Neil, Sunvox
add stuff from here - http://vocaloid.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Browse

Find out the correct place for Microsoft Office Themes (THMX) - doesn't seem like they belong in Document
and the same for Microsoft Access Record-Locking Information (LACCDB)
Microsoft InfoPath formats XSN - Web Brower Form Template (2010), Filler Form Template (2010), Web Brower Form Template (2007), Filler Form Template (2007), Form Template (2003)
The sample formats supported by Imago Wave are interesting - I'm familiar with WAV and RAW but not IIF and DP3
Veering away from audio for a while, I wonder if there are any extant dumps / format documentation for the IBM Magnetic Tape Selectric Composer ([1]), IBM Electronic Selectric Composer ([2]) or IBM Mag Card Selectric Composer ([3])
Dig out references for the various MED formats (Music Editor / OctaMED / MED Soundstudio (win & amiga)
Tracker stuff
- Find out if any trackers other than DigiTracker and FastTracker 2 produce .xm files and how they can be identified.
- Add compression table / extensions to Open MODPlug Tracker (.mdbz, .mdgz, .mdz, .mdr)
- ftp://ftp.modland.com/pub/documents/format_documentation/MaxTracker%20v1.0A%20(.mod).txt - is there any difference between this and standard Protracker .mod format?
- ftp://ftp.modland.com/pub/documents/format_documentation/MikMod%20Unitrk%20(.uni).txt - not sure where this belongs
Musical Notation stuff
Not sure yet where (or if) a lot of these belong in the ontology, just trying to get a sense of scale.
XML
- MusiCat (Music Catalog)
