But I try to be cautious about this sort of thing, especially when the number of items isn't very large. That's not the only way to categorize them, and there are bound to be formats that don't fit neatly into exactly one category, and it increases the friction for listing new formats. [edit] Proposal to group system files by their OS or platform
The majority of the entries are Microsoft Windows specific, this may make navigation difficult if readers are not using the same said OS. My idea is to have the following:
== List of formats == ...(redacted) == Microsoft Windows == * INF (Windows) ** Autorun.inf * ETL * Windows Event Log ..(redacted) == BSD == * Basic Security Module == Unix-like == * X Keymap

- I would think that's the most logical way to categorize system files, and I wouldn't object. But I try to be cautious about this sort of thing, especially when the number of items isn't very large.
