[edit] File Identification
Prior to version 12, MTW files began with the ascii string "WORKSHEET STORED BY MINITAB" followed by the version which created the file.
Beginning in version 12 (1998), MTW files started using the "OLE2" document container format. This release also introduced the MPJ Minitab project file.[5]
Minitab 18 can open Worksheets (MTW) from Minitab Release 13 and forward, Projects (MPJ) from Minitab release 15 and forward, and Graphs (MGF) from Minitab Release 14 and forward.[6]
