Ontology
Released 1988
For another "Slim" format, see Slim!.

SLIM is a DOS utility for file compression and transparent decompression. It was developed by Dominic Herity.

Compressed files can be manually decompressed using the "x" option.

Note that, although SLIM may look like it does executable compression, it doesn't really. Executable files are compressed like any other file, and they cannot decompress themselves.

[edit] Identification

Compressed files apparently always start with these 8 bytes: cd 20 73 4c 69 4d 1a 05.
