MUMPS (Massachusetts General Hospital Utility Multi-Programming System) is a programming language dating back to 1966 that was developed for the healthcare industry, but has also been used in the financial industry. It shares a name with a disease, and there are some programmers who think getting the disease is better than having to program in the language.
