Starting in version 8.4 of Camtasia Studio added a cross platform Techsmith Recording format (.trec) that allows users to record on Camtasia (Mac) and edit in Camtasia (Win), or vice-versa.[1] The Camtasia TREC is a custom file container that holds more than just a video file. Other video editing software can't read or open a TREC file.[2]
File Information
TREC is a video format which uses the MP4 container with a proprietary TechSmith Screen Capture Codec (TSC) codec.[3]
