Finale is music notation software. Developed originally by Coda Music Technology, then currently, MakeMusic.[1] Finale was discontinued on August 26, 2024.[2]

Over the years Finale has used many file formats, which include[3]:
- .MUS & .ETF (Enigma Binary File & Enigma Transportable File)[4]
- .MUSX & .musicxml Starting in 2014, (ZIP/XML format & XML format for sharing)[5]
Enigma stands for “Environment for Notation Intuitive Graphic Music Algorithms” and was used for many of the early formats.[6]
