Parasolid XT format was developed in 1980's as a CAD parts format.[1][2] Still developed today and used by 200+ vendors, the XT format is openly documented.[3][4]

Both file formats have a plain text header, but model contents can be plain text or binary.
- X_T are plain text files.
- X_B are binary files.
