DataShow Sprite (also called DataShow Icon) is a graphics file format associated with DataShow. For more information about DataShow, refer to DataShow GRA.

A Sprite file stores a raster image, or a sequence of images to be animated.

The format is supported by DataShow v5.0A+, as well as all DataShow Pro versions.

[edit] Discussion

Here's a way to view a Sprite file in DataShow Pro v1.4A (assumes you have a way to run DOS software):

  • Put the SPR file in the same directory as SHOW.EXE.
  • Run SHOW.EXE.
  • At the main menu, press F7 (Graph).
  • Select "Animation" from the pop-up menu.
  • Select a number of colors. Try 16 first.
  • In the Animation Center, press the "Load" button. Type the filename, and press enter.
  • If the file has multiple images, use the "Frame" button to choose an image.

[edit] Identification

A Sprite file starts with byte 0x0d, followed by ASCII "DataShow Icon".
