ADEX .IMG is a raster graphics format associated with ChromaGraph graphics cards by ADEX Corporation.

The third-party Image Alchemy software supports the format at least as far back as v1.5.1, so the format dates to 1991 or earlier.

[edit] Discussion

It's difficult to find any information about ADEX ChromaGraph. We can confirm the existence of:

  • A product named "ADEX ChromaGraph II"[1]
  • A company named Adex Corp., of San Jose, CA, whose products include ADEX ChromaTron monitors and ADEX 8514 graphics boards[2][3]

[edit] Identification

Files are observed to start with ASCII "PICT", followed by the byte 0x00 (for a non-compressed image) or 0x01 (RLE compressed).
