PIX ("PIcture in teXt", or "PIcture_teXt") is DOS software by Black Jec Soft (contact: Eugeny Bushmanov), and its native raster graphics format. It displays an image in text mode, presumably by customizing character glyphs.
The software includes a utility named PCX2PIX (possibly also called MPIX), for converting from PCX to PIX format.
[edit] Format details
PIX v0.22 says that its "second generation" format is incompatible with that used by previous versions of the software.
PIX v0.22 format is a raw bitmap format, 160×140 pixels, organized as 20 strips of 8×140 pixels. The file size is 2800 bytes.
