Image Cytometry Experiment format (ICEFormat) is a format for storing data from image cytometry instruments in a standardized way. It uses a Data Directory XML file with a .ice extension, which contains references to other files that are part of the data set via relative URLs. The other files include images in standardized formats such as PNG. The idea is to get away from proprietary formats that are difficult to use in an interoperable way with products from different vendors.
This is a different format from Image Cytometry Standard (ICS), which is actually an image file format in its own right in addition to its textual metadata.
