IGES (Initial Graphics Exchange Specification) is a text-based CAD format. The U.S. military was involved in its development. Though antiquated, it apparently still has some uses, due to its portability.
It is not related to the Institute of Global Environment and Society, or to the International Genetic Epidemiology Society.
