Windows 1253 (CP1253, Windows-1253, Windows CP1253, Windows Greek) is a character encoding used in Microsoft Windows systems, aimed at languages using the Greek alphabet. It is one of the Windows encodings. It supports modern Greek, but not the older polytonic diacritical marks used earlier in Greek. This encoding is similar to ISO 8859-7, but with some additional characters and with a small number of them in different positions.
