Hebrew numerals use 22 symbols to write their numbers. Each symbol has a specific numerical value and the final value is the sum of all the symbols used.

For example, the name of roman emperor Neron Caesar was either נרון קסר = 50 + 200 + 6 + 50 + 100 + 60 + 200, or נרו קסר = 50 + 200 + 6 + 100 + 60 + 200.
