Dot.xxx is a very contravercial top level domain that was introduced in 2011 in hopes that pornographic, adult-oriented, and sexually explicitely sites will voluntarily move to use such domains.
It was criticised by almost everybody since its very start. Anti-sex crown claimed that having such a domain would normalise pornography on the internet. Adult industry saw it as an additional potential to have the established domains having to fight for yet another TLD namespace. Free speech advocates pointed out the fact that having a specific content on a specific tld would make it possible to censor it.
