Telepen is a bar code symbology dating back to 1972, when it was created in the United Kingdom. It expresses characters from the 128-character ASCII repertoire using combinations of narrow and wide bars and spaces to stand for particular bit combinations, using even parity to cause there to always be an even number of zero bits. Bytes are encoded in little-endian bit order. The code always starts with an ASCII underscore (0x5F) and ends with ASCII z (0xFA).
