Dot Code A, or Phillips Dot Code, is a 2D bar code system that uses a matrix of dots to encode data. It is covered by US Patent 4,745,269, which is probably expired since it was issued in 1988. The matrix of dots can be anywhere from 6 x 6 to 12 x 12.
