For the font format, see TexFont.

TXF (Tax Exchange Format) is an openly-documented transfer format used for exporting/importing financial information related to the U.S. federal income tax, such as data on the purchase and sale of securities which needs to be recorded in a capital gains/losses tax schedule. It was developed by Intuit for use with their TurboTax software, and its documentation is open to allow financial institutions to export their data in this format for the convenience of their customers.

The file is text-based, with the first line containing "V" followed by the file format version number.
