Released 1989

Avid Media Composer[1] is film and video editing software[2] for Macintosh and Windows.

File Information

Video projects are stored using the AVP extension.[3]

Media is managed by using the concept of Bin's[4] reminiscent of analog video editing. Bin's are stored in a file format with the AVB extension.[5]

Format Information

Both AVP and AVB files begin with the ascii header DomainDJBO.

AVB has been partially reversed to be able to read and write the format outside of Media Composer[6].
