Ontology

Encyclopedia of Graphics File Formats (EGFF) is a book by James D. Murray and William VanRyper. Along with general information about graphics formats, it provides detailed information about many specific formats. It includes a CD-ROM containing format specifications, sample files, and software. There were two editions: the First Edition in 1994, and the Second Edition in 1996. It has been released under a Creative Commons license, and its contents are available online.
