CNS 11643 (Chinese National Standard 11643) is a character encoding for Chinese characters, containing 16 planes of characters. It is used in ISO 2022-CN where the planes are selected using escape sequences. It is the official character encoding in the Republic of China (Taiwan), but Big5 is more used there.
