I created some .LZA & .LZZ files with the linked LZA v1.01 tool, and the signatures I see are identically to the ones listed for v2.
- Yeah, the article has some clarity issues. LZA v1.01 is most likely based on ChiefLZ v3.10, which uses the formats I assume were introduced with ChiefLZ v2.00. The ChiefLZ v3.20 history log seems to indicate just one format change:
September 3 1998 - v2.00 released - ** the new archives are *not* compatible with v1.x archives
