A '''Wiglet''' is an animated artificially-intelligent character from Wiggle Planet's series of apps and related materials. They have "artificial genetics" so that they actually have emerged through an evolutionary process rather than being entirely designed by human creators, so their behavior is an emergent property. Several free apps are available for iOS (Android is expected eventually), and a successful Kickstarter campaign is funding a children's book (''Peck Peck's Journey'') that ties into an app, with a customized character for each purchaser which is stored "in the cloud". Some of the apps use "augmented reality" to make the animated characters seem to be in the real world by inserting them in the live picture seen by a device's camera.

Not much technical detail has yet been revealed as to how the characters are stored and transmitted.
