Developed by Digidesign in the late 1980's, [https://www.lim.di.unimi.it/IEEE/DGDES/SDI.HTM Sound Designer] and Sound Designer II are audio recording and editing software used on the Macintosh platform. Sound Designer II v2.8.3 was the last version released and was never tested in OS 9<ref>http://archive.digidesign.com/support/faq/sd2.html</ref>.
